B and B-: Good and above average. The best of the mass market whiskeys fit in this category, as do the bulk of the premium brands. A B- is three stars. The Crabbie name has been associated with Scotch whisky for over 200 years, Brown explained, with John Crabbie & Co having been established in 1801 in Leith, Edinburgh. Founder John Crabbie is recognised as one of the pioneers of the whisky industry. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remainder of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect. The company, which is owned by Halewood Wines & Spirits, is also in the process of building a second, larger distillery at Graham Street in Leith. Brown said: ‘Region isn’t a great descriptor of the whisky, and it’s becoming irrelevant with people like us, being a Lowland distillery but not making Lowland whisky. Region doesn’t mean anything.’

The Chain Pier Distillery was a boutique pilot distillery where our distillers hand produced unique distillations to trial everything from malt types to custom casks. The distillery was only operational between October 2018 and November 2019 while The Bonnington Distillery was under construction. This short production window before closure yielded just 39 casks – making it some of the scarcest Single Malt Whisky ever produced. All the spirit was hand crafted using a 500 litre copper pot still.Palate: Layers of sweet berries and cream, with soft coffee caramel toffee. Dried fruit develops to a sweet, balanced peppered smokiness, with hints of dark chocolate and coffee. Break from the herd”; “No boundaries” – Halewood and John Crabbie & Co are certainly making a statement with the new release, even if not of the age kind We already do a range of fantastic sipping age statement whiskies, and now we are trying to do what John Crabbie did by pushing boundaries still further,” said Brown. “We like to think we are a broad church, and are inclusive. I am in the last few years of my career and I want more and more people to drink whisky.Crabbie’s success was based on changing the way whisky was produced and consumed, blending whiskies together to improve their taste profile, Brown noted. “The name became synonymous with quality and consistency and the company was always pushing boundaries.” The Crabbie name has been associated with the Scotch whisky industry since the early 1800s and founder John Crabbie selected whiskies for blending and bottling from all over Scotland. He is considered an early pioneer of whisky blending. After disappearing in the early 20th century, the company has now been reborn under the ownership of Halewood Wine & Spirits. This includes a single malt range that features an 8 years old Highland, 12 years old Peated Island plus older age statements of 25, 30 and 40 years old from Speyside. The bottling of Bonnington single malt still appears to be some way off but Crabbie’s continue to bottle sourced spirit in an array of different expressions. Serving as an affordable introduction to the range is Yardhead, named after the location of John Crabbie’s original Leith premises. Blended malts have tried to tap into that market, but what we are launching… is a single malt which we believe offers a premium alternative and a different taste profile, ideally suited to be enjoyed long over ice with a mixer.’ Without prejudice to the section Liability below, the Service may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance, updates, etc. We shall make reasonable efforts to inform you of any unavailability due to maintenance or updates.

Disruptive’ malt: Crabbie’s Yardhead is designed to appeal to drinkers who don’t want to sip their whisky Hibs unveil three-year deal with Crabbie's". www.scotsman.com. Johnston Publishing. 29 March 2011 . Retrieved 7 December 2013. In the United States, Crabbie's is sold as a malt beverage and is not gluten free. The discovery that the American version of Crabbie's is not gluten free caused much alarm and controversy among the celiac and gluten intolerant community, as Crabbie's was originally marketed as gluten free in the United States. [6] Sponsorship [ edit ]The finish is short and sweet, turning quite hot and peppery once those butterscotch and toffee notes fade. The peppery nature increases to give a mouth watering quality and a feeling of dryness. A very late hint of the crisp green apple rounds everything off. I’ve seen how young people are looking to get into whisky but they’re put off by the more traditional aspects of Scotch whisky.
