As stated prior the above audio score and related critique of how things sound down below are based solely upon my viewings against a cumulative average curve of the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray presentations of HBO’s Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection. R. Martin, season one of Game of Thrones introduces a world where summers span decades and winters can last a lifetime.

Collectors of SteelBooks may well want this edition of the series, and the packaging is handsome if rather restrained looking.

Additional audio options on the 4K discs include English, French, Castilian Spanish, German, Russian, and Italian 5. I would much rather have a disc that doesn't look perfect that plays fine, then a perfect looking disc that freezes. The escalation of the tensions between Winterfell and King's Landing drive them while the lesser but integral subplots following Arya Stark, Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen provide an added and enriching layer to the proceedings. I sampled episodes from each season here on the 4K discs and I put together a cumulative grade down below for both the audio and video presentations in this complete series release. Right away, when you start listening in comparison to the Blu-ray, you notice a larger, richer, and more enveloping soundfield.

These differences aren’t especially noteworthy, but in the grand scheme, made for a more pleasing image. I had gotten the Season 1 HDR release used for around 20 bucks a cupole of years ago and thought that is was a definite improvement over the Blu-ray set. As stated prior the above video score and related critique of things down below are based solely upon my viewings against a cumulative average curve of the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray presentations of HBO’s Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection. Somehow, though, the remaster work has delivered transformative results, making the whole show look so fresh you feel like you’re watching it again for the first time. Things quickly escalate leaving the audience to feel as though perhaps they aren’t watching the same show/characters that they have come to enjoy so much.

Only time will tell until the jury is out on that, but I regret to inform you that as beautiful as things look here on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc it doesn’t change the lackluster, unimaginative ending employed in Season 8. The idea of using people from different aspects of the production for each commentary is a masterstroke, ensuring that each one feels fresh and gives another perspective on the production and story. The package is nowhere near as elaborate as the deluxe Blu-ray set, but it’s sturdy, handsome, and it doesn’t take up a lot of room on your shelf. For the most part, though, the picture quality of the Game Of Thrones Season One 4K Blu-ray release is good enough to give you all the excuse you need to start watching this epic show again from the start ahead of the final season hitting our screens later this year.
