Some of the interesting facts in this book are overwhelmed with the poor book report style used throughout. But I had to finish it considering my curiosity about Alcatraz and my fascination with prison breaks (real and metaphorical). Escape From Alcatraz is a collection of true stories about escape attempts from the notorious prison off the coast of California on Alcatraz Island. If like me you've always wanted to learn more about Alcatraz and what went on over there then this is definitely the book for you.

This federal prison's conditions were so harsh that escape, riot, even death, were an inmate's only hope. I had to look at the hints for most of the puzzles and needed the answers in the back for over half. On the night of February 18, 1952, during one of the worst winter storms that New England has ever seen, two oil tankers just off the shore of Cape Cod were torn in half by the force of the storm. He has written dozens of books on many topics, and one of his books was read by an astronaut on the International Space Station for kids on Earth to watch.It covers all the intricacies of their plan for escape and everything authorities have done since to try to close the case. Good story, not too long, reader very good, EXCEPT every 60 seconds or so, there would be a gap or delay in the readers narrative. The picture provided the tools they used, what their cells looked like when they escaped and even provided pictures of what the island looked like back then. The author states that Allen was the key to the escape because he'd been at Alcatraz since 1957 and worked maintenance jobs.
