Description

This smokey island whisky has an excellent combination of sweet and flowery aromas, as well as a luscious richness. The distillery also produces a smaller amount of peated whisky, which remains known under the former name, Ledaig. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

To celebrate the occasion, we’re taking a closer look at this award-winning Island single malt– Ledaig 18 Year Old. A 15-year-old Glenallachie single malt, matured in a combination of Pedro Ximenez and oloroso sherry casks, creating a smooth, rich character.Inactivity and nothingness continued however right through the vast majority of the 20th century before Ledaig’s previous owners, Burn Stewart Distillers came to the fore and purchased the Mull distillery. Powerful rich, sherried, herbal smoky flavours, orange peel, coffee, a touch of sea salt, and white pepper. Created with expertise and a great deal of care, to have won such a fantastic accolade is a true reflection of the hard work that goes into producing each expression in the Tobermory portfolio. Nothing in the Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or for death or personal injury resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct by us. In 2007 Burn Stewart reignited Tobermory’s original name under the Ledaig brand, which was launched as a heavily peated 10-year-old single malt in contrast to the unpeated Tobermory. Palate: Powerful rich, sherried, herbal smoky flavours, orange peel, coffee, a touch of sea salt, tobacco and white pepper. This water is peated, which means they use unpeated barley (unlike the Ledaig, which uses peated barley) to ensure just a subtly smokey character. A wondrous union of sublimely spicy white pepper, the vibrant sweetness of liquorice and a kick of cloves with a exquisite lingering saltiness. My son was very impressed with the taste of this whisky and I was very glad i bought it for him, as he too has become a bit of a connoisseur of whiskey now. I think a few wee sample bottles coming in the post are easier to justify to my better half than a larger box and the judging eyes burning in the back of my skull when the postman arrives.
