That bubble of isolation is so tempting, and once you realise you can block much of the world out, leaving you only to your own thoughts and tunes, you’ll feel obliged to sit there. With their ANC feature on, they can block mid and treble-range ambient noise, like ambient chatter and the hum of nearby AC units. They also have an array of useful connectivity features like multi-device pairing and Google Fast Fair, the latter of which allows Android users to instantly connect their devices. Vocals sound as they should, with their lower mid range fundamentals falling naturally in line with their ensuing upper mid overtones. The Live 660NC have slightly better neutral sound performance, with a more accurate bass that still adds punch and boom to your mixes.

Some listeners may prefer their more neutral sound profile in comparison with the JBL's slightly more bass-heavy sound. The low-bass and mid-bass are slightly overemphasized, which adds extra thump and punch to your mixes. Their low latency over a wired connection ensures that audio and video are mostly in sync, and their bass-heavy sound helps you feel the thump and rumble in action-packed scenes.

Listen wirelessly for up to 35 hours with active noise canceling for long-lasting fun, or up to 50 hours with ANC off. Unfortunately, they lack a companion app, and there aren't any gaming-related customization features available. See our recommendations for the best wireless Bluetooth headphones, the best noise cancelling headphones, and the best JBL headphones.Similar to the Tune 660NC, if you are on the road, you can plan your route using the Run Google Assistant and Google Maps by voice command and have the routes announced to you. That starts with electronic, with a deep bass hit from Tycho’s “Glider” punching hard, showing you just what JBL’s “Pure Bass” is all about.

Like most headphones or buds that I’ve gotten to try from JBL, nothing feels congested or compressed. You can apparently get an extra 15 hours out of these headphones if you forgo the noise cancellation, resulting in as much as 50 hours of battery life, though it’s hard to leave that bubble of isolated sound, for sure. So, I’m not surprised by the generally pleasant, articulate, and inoffensive tuning exhibited by the JBL Tune 760NC. Listen wirelessly for 35 hours with active noise cancelling for long-lasting fun, or 50 hours with ANC off and recharge the battery in 2 hours.

However, the Sony's companion app allows you to customize the sound further via a graphic EQ, presets, and spatial audio controls. They come with an ANC feature that can block out mid-range sound like ambient chatter and high-pitched noises like the hum of an AC unit. That may not be a bad thing, but it does mean JBL can feel kind of stuck, and while the market is moving on to having all of those extra features, this pair misses out.

You can plug these headphones into your PC or the controller for your PlayStation and Xbox consoles using the included 1/8" TRS cable, though you can only receive audio and can't use the microphone.Granted, the controls are more feature-driven than other headphones, but they’re cheap and plasticky, can be heard every time you press them, and you may need to remind yourself what you’re touching by taking them off every so often.
