Description

The AtomHDR display technology allows you to accurately monitor your log gamma footage without having to view flat, washed-out looking images or use a LUT to compress the dynamic range and colour space. More importantly the Shinobi handles exposure correctly while displaying LUTS and it’s peaking and false colour tools look better. As mentioned both devices use Sony NP-F style batteries although none are included with either device.

The Ninja V is built to withstand the testing of production and has an aluminium chassis and is powered by a single L-series battery. Ninja V can be calibrated for perfect color accuracy every time, and also enables playout to HDR or SDR TV. This is one area where the Shinobi does a much better job than the Ninja V and could be a big deciding factor on your purchasing decision. If your Ninja V+ is already powered on, you will be prompted to perform the firmware update when a drive containing new firmware is inserted. The Atomos Ninja V has a 5-inch LCD screen illuminated by a bright 1000 cd/m² backlight, making it possible to view your images in daylight without the need for a lens hood.

Atomos has announced a completely free means of remotely controlling their Ninja V, and Ninja V+ field monitors and released a new firmware update to control fan speed.

The recording contains the new “Dip to”-transitions as well as the Fade In/Fade Out buttons used to fade in or fade out of your program during recording. Of course, a recording isn't 100% complete until checked; AtomOS gives speedy playback, slow motion and frame-by-frame analysis for instant review. The NDI TX option turns your Connect-enabled Ninja into an NDI source, visible to all other authorized devices on the network. Ninja V records in a wide range of codecs: Apple ProRes, ProRes RAW and Avid DNx to enable wide compatibility across camera types and edit software. Atomos recommends that your Ninja V+ is plugged into mains power before commencing the firmware update.

Monitoring and Recording whilst outputting a RAW signal to the Ninja V in ProRes RAW mode will work as expected.
