So we all agree that when WOTC changed the fat pack from Saviors of Kamigawa to 9th edition, that it was a good thing, because it was no longer something that is for collectors, and just sitting there, but now, with the most recent ones having basic lands in them, you can just crack open the 9 boosters, and build whatever deck you want. This marks the start of a short period of going for big set little set twice in a year like Lorwyn/Shadowmoor somewhat piloted. This post is to see what a MTG player thinks of this, and it would be cool if I hear the opinion of someone who has played both MTG and Pokemon TCG. They also have a much more muted color palette overall that seems almost grayscale at times when compared to the art of Unhinged.

I feel like Magic artists are made to refrain from having other land’s colors in the art, or they just do so by choice, and I love that about this land. Double Masters VIP Editions contain new printings of five Battle for Zendikar full-art basics and five Unhinged full-art basics, both in a slightly modified frame. Other than the Origins stuff at the top it is vaguely chronological from top to bottom oldest to newest. Not to disappoint, this basic doesn’t paint an entirely serene scene: in the distance, a figure looms. There are four from Scars of Mirrodin, then two each for Mirrodin Besieged and New Phyrexia, then finally to round it out the MPS promo series set in the plane. through Xth edition had no new art but they started to put some drabs into new core sets from M10 onwards missing just one, perhaps two sets. Time Spiral basics have their own unique style again with quite desolate and bleak dark depictions akin to Tempest Rath lands. some will be higher just from higher demand, but if you just need basic lands to play, i see no reason why you shouldn't be able to get them for 1 cent each. From Zendikar we move to Shadows Over Innistrad with the typical shadowy landscapes found there and then on to Kaladesh with some whacky swirly lands. These Swamps have magnificent sketch-style alters that are inspired by the sketch cards from Modern Horizons 2. They allowed us to think of the land types in a more abstract and creative way and this is a huge win for the flavour overall.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The deep red hues and tapered points throughout the piece, from the sun pillars to the mountain peak itself, speak of one thing: danger. Drawing inspiration from both steampunk and Indian styles, this set yet again provides stunning basic land arts. With Pokemon TCG, I have tons of cards, from multitude of sets, that I bought from boosters, because I really don't want any control over what cards I have, but yet, to play the game, you need basic energies. To the left of the symbol are the words " Basic Land" while on the right is the type of the land and the expansion symbol. I also like how the MTG community have people from the inside, with the view of the outside looking in, if you know what I mean? Like the other "Un" sets, Unstable isn't legal in most official events, but its wacky shenanigans offer completely unique battles for casual play.
